This was hard work, but I enjoyed it....the order was for a ten year old girl, who was a fantastic horse rider, and rode Icelandic ponies. She is not very girlie girlie, and loves the outdoors...
I looked up pictures of Iceland and also of Icelandic ponies, and created the cake above....the pony was hard work, and I wish I had made a wire frame for the legs, so it could have stood up unsupported, but I like the details of the waterfall and the unusual shape...I used a marbled fondant technique for covering the cake, and liked it so much I wanted to make it visible. I also liked the cut out of the horses head...so all in all I think it turned out well.
I hope the birthday girl thinks so too!

A first communion cake, based on scripture, "The Lord is my Shepard". The lady who ordered wanted muted colors and white....it made it look very serene.
It was very sweet, with a water fall which spilled down the front and into foam, but I finished it late and could not get an outside picture before pickup, my not very special camera does not take good indoors pictures, so I'm only posting one...shame, the lamb turned out really well, I used a new textured rolling pin to get the effect of the coat, and it was cute.

A funky diva sweet 16 cake

Another princess cake, this one had vines growing up the sides, a fairy tale book, and a small water fall...I liked the look of the water foaming as it fell into the pond. This was fun to do, we made the cake half yellow cake, half chocolate! A good idea if you need a large cake for a party as it gives you two options for the guests.

One of the nicest ladies I have met recently asked me to make a very special cake...tomorrow her sons adoption is official. I based this on an image in my head of Thumbelina, the little girl who lived in a flower...it reads: "Our beautiful son Jameson"...I was pleased with how this cake looked...Yellow cake with milk chocolate butter cream.

An Anniversary cake, moist chocolate sponge, milk chocolate ganache filling and double chocolate butter cream. It is honestly the best chocolate cake I have ever tasted....at last we have found a really moist chocolate cake and it doesn't even use eggs!!! Our search is over, thank you Kelly, your the best.

A lovely lady contacted me asking if I could do a welcome baby cake, for a family of boys (plus the new and happy Mom). They liked all things mechanical particularly trucks and cranes.
As many of my cakes are very girlie, this was a perfect opportunity to make something a bit different. Though my 18 wheeler was short of a few wheels, it was fun to make...i imagined an Arizona dessert road with cactus, tumble weed and clear blue skies...this is where my imagination took me.....
